AI Literacy
You understand the capabilities and limitations of current AI technologies and the ways they are changing professional work.
Our teams work directly on consequential financial and operating decisions, where the quality of the analysis and the judgment behind it can materially shape what a client decides to do next.
You will work with people who are expected to look beyond the obvious answer, contribute their own perspective, and remain accountable for what the work produces. We care about the decision in front of the client, but we also care about whether the work continues to matter after the engagement ends.
The work of consulting is changing as technology takes on more of the analysis that once consumed significant time, placing greater weight on the judgment people bring to the questions in front of them. We look for people who are curious enough to investigate beyond the first answer, comfortable testing assumptions, and able to form a considered point of view when the evidence is incomplete or competing.
That judgment has to carry into the way you work with other people. We value colleagues who communicate clearly, listen seriously to different perspectives, learn quickly, and take responsibility for the outcome rather than simply completing their part of an assignment. Technical capability matters, but so does knowing when to question an answer, when to keep investigating, and how to earn the trust of the people relying on your work.

City Shift Finance is a global management consulting firm working with organizations on consequential financial and operating decisions. Our teams stay close to the questions clients are actively trying to resolve, bringing financial and operating analysis together rather than treating them as separate conversations.
People here are expected to think independently, contribute a perspective they can support, and take responsibility for the quality of their work. That means being willing to keep investigating when the first explanation is incomplete and understanding that the usefulness of the work depends on the decisions it helps a client make.
We look for people who are curious, thoughtful, and willing to contribute their own perspective. You do not need to arrive knowing everything. What matters is how you think, how you learn, and the responsibility you take for the work and the people around you.
Our virtual interviews are intended to feel like a focused conversation rather than a test of how polished you can appear on a screen. Choose a place where you can speak comfortably, check your camera and audio beforehand, and keep anything you may reasonably need during the conversation within reach so that the technology stays in the background.
During the interview, take the time you need to understand the question and ask for clarification when something is unclear. We are interested in how you think, what you notice, and how you explain your reasoning, so a thoughtful pause is more useful than rushing toward an answer you have not considered.
We also expect the conversation to represent your own thinking. Please do not use AI assistants, transcription tools, outside messaging, or other real-time assistance during the interview unless your interviewer has explicitly asked you to use a particular tool as part of the discussion.
